BOB KNOX

The crossroads of painting, photography, realism, and abstraction are the foundation of the acrylic paintings by artist Bob Knox. Referencing photographs he finds in books, magazines, and newspapers, his subject matter ranges from scenes of house interiors to cityscapes and landscapes. Knox is also intrigued with the accentuated abstract forms of detailed patterning and the out-of-focus blurriness in the photographs he finds.

Bob Knox was born in New York City in 1953 and currently lives and works in San Francisco, California. He was educated at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in France, Wesleyan University, and SUNY Purchase in New York. Knox’s paintings have been widely exhibited across the United States and Europe; as well, his work appears in the collections of the Denver Art Museum and the University Art Museum in Long Beach, California.
